Rich Lansky, the owner and director of OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE TRAINING, INC. and the Head Coach for Team Florida Gulf Coast Weightlifting has been selected by USA Weightlifting as the 2006 Coach of the Year JAMES E. "Doc" COUNSILMAN SCIENCE AWARD winner.
The United States Olympic Committee informed Coach Lansky of his selection on April 13, 2007 with a letter expaining that "This award serves as testament to your dedication to the Olympic ideals and service to your sport, community and athletes. Each Olympic/Pan American sport's NGB (National Governing Body) was invited to recognize... coaches... for their respective sport. The Goals of the USOC Coach Recognition Program are to elevate the status of coaching as a profession and to recognize the best coaches in the United States. The program is an exciting way to recognize coaches who prepare our athletes for performance at every level of sport."
