ATHLETIC THERAPY SERVICES

Physical Therapy is aimed at improving the functional performance of your body and its ability to engage in pain free movement. If often involves the use of various modalities to help restore proper function and relieve pain associated with musculotendinous injuries.

Depending on the nature of your condition, a licensed athletic trainer (ATC) or physical therapist may utilize heat, ice, electric stimulation, ultrasound, neuromuscular massage, stretching and/or exercise to help you regain movement skills and improved levels of neural and mechanical strength and functional flexibility.

As with any health care service, the specifics of your program will be individually tailored to your needs and objectives.

The Team Approach

At O.P.T.I., your improved health and well-being is the responsibility of our professional team. We will work closely with your physician to promote recovery and re-attain functional levels of strength, flexibility, and endurance.

For some, this will mean the ability to enjoy activities of daily life without pain or fear. For others, goals could revolve around a successful return to competitive athletics. Depending on the stage of your program, you will work with a licensed athletic trainer or active release provider, an exercise physiologist, a neuromuscular massage therapist or a certified strength and conditioning specialist. Each member of our team has the same objective...to help you get better.

FITNESS TRAINING SERVICES

Fitness is more than just exercise. Fitness involves a balance between physical conditioning and mental wellness. Improved well-being greatly contributes to enhanced quality of life.

A scientifically-based, supervised fitness program can have profound effects on your state of well-being. Studies have shown that exercise--when performed correctly and gradually progressed in terms of intensity and duration--can have tremendous positive effects on the human body.

To guarantee both safety and effectiveness, exercise programs need to be supervised and adjusted to reflect both acute variables and chronic adaptations. Each person is an unique individual with specific needs and objectives. Quality fitness programs reflect these needs and objectives.

Our staff is trained to design and implement personalized programs on a one to one basis. Exercise physiologists, and NSCA and ACSM certified fitness professionals provide you with the expertise and coaching needed to help you achieve your goals.

At O.P.T.I., our personal fitness trainers do more than just load weights and monitor blood pressure and heart rate. They are trained wellness counselors who help you understand the importance of healthy life-style practices. With this understanding, you will be motivated enough to achieve an improved state of functional well-being.

Increased levels of musculoskeletal strength and endurance, neuromuscular function, balance and core stability are all facets of an improved functional fitness level.

O.P.T.I. SPEED CAMPS

A hands-on, modular approach to teaching the basic biomotor skills and movement patterns related to speed. Clinic participants are provided with the knowledge and instruction necessary to facilitate the individualized development and improvement of speed and the speed-related qualities essential to athletic performance.

The Dynamics of Speed I: An Introduction
The primary focus of the workshop is the teaching and application of basic running mechanics and form. These basic skills can then be progressively built upon to improve speed, quickness and agility. The overriding emphasis of this first module is on movement prep, or the basic tools that form the foundation to athleticism: Agility, Balance, Coordination, Suppleness (blend of mobility, stability and flexibility), and Relative Bodyweight Strength.

The Dynamics of Speed II: Essentials of Speed, Quickness & Agility
The basic biomotor skills learned in the first module are adapted to fit the needs and objectives of your particular sport, position, and situation. Emphasis is given to sport-specific applications of starting speed, acceleration, deceleration, agility, lateral movement, coordination, quickness and reaction time.

The Dynamics of Speed III: Putting Speed to Work on The Field
The third module deals with the specific patterns, movements, time frames, and surroundings of your specific sport. Metabolic planning and game theory are applied to meet the objectives and needs of the athlete's specific sport and position and the related technical and tactical requirements.
